What happens during a lesson?

During an Alexander Technique lesson, the teacher uses explanation and gentle guiding touch to direct the student through simple, familiar movements such as sitting, bending and walking. The purpose of these activities is to understand the proper use of joints, muscles and balance, and to change habitual misuse of the body.
During a portion of each lesson, the student lies on his or her back on a padded table. The student remains fully clothed while the teacher gently moves the student’s limbs and head. The purpose of this activity is to lengthen and widen the back, free the joints, and to release and tone the muscles.
Additional activities may be tailored to each person to address his or her particular needs.

Lessons are individual sessions taught at my home studio in Blue Ash. A course of lessons is recommended. As we will be exploring movement, students should wear comfortable, non-constricting clothing. Women generally prefer to wear pants rather than skirts to permit lying on a table or mat during the lesson. Working without shoes is beneficial, clean socks are appreciated.

It is my aim to make the Alexander Technique available to whomever is seriously interested in it. My standard fee is $55 per class or $500 for a prepaid course of ten lessons, but please feel free to suggest an amount you can afford.
